Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using BarSongTrivia, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms apply to host accounts; players joining a game session are not required to create an account.

The service

BarSongTrivia is a browser-based live music trivia platform. Hosts run game sessions using their own local music files; players join via a room code in any browser. The service is provided on a subscription basis.

Subscriptions and billing

Host accounts require an active subscription to run game sessions. Subscriptions are available on a monthly ($9.99/month) or annual ($89.99/year) basis. New accounts include a 7-day free trial — no charge until the trial ends.

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period. You may cancel at any time from your account dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; no partial refunds are issued for unused time.

All payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you also agree to Stripe's terms.

Your music and content

BarSongTrivia plays music from files stored locally on the host's device. We do not upload, store, or distribute your music files. You are responsible for ensuring you have the appropriate rights to play music in your venue (e.g., a PRO license such as ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC, which most bars already hold).

We are not responsible for any copyright or licensing issues arising from the music you choose to play.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, or disrupt the platform
• Share account credentials with others outside your organization
• Misrepresent the service as gambling or use it in a manner that violates local gaming laws

Skill-based play

BarSongTrivia is designed as a skill-based trivia game. Outcomes are determined entirely by players' song knowledge and response speed. The platform does not incorporate random draws, lotteries, or chance-based prize mechanics. Hosts are responsible for verifying compliance with local entertainment and gaming regulations for their specific venue and jurisdiction.

Availability and uptime

We aim to keep BarSongTrivia available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We are not liable for downtime, data loss, or service interruptions. We recommend testing the platform before any scheduled event.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BarSongTrivia is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to active hosts by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
